Over Memorial Day Weekend, mom and dad too me to the Buffalo Zoo. That was a lot of fun. We ate a picnic lunch out on the grass, got to run around in the sun, ride a little train with mom, and best of all I saw lots of new animals. My favorite was the baby big horned sheep, although the baby rhino was pretty interesting too.
But the most memorable might have been the giraffe. Mom asked me if I thought giraffes were short or tall before we saw them and I said "tall" (mom is always asking me silly questions). Then I saw one!
It was even taller than dad!
It was a LOT taller than dad!
And its food was way up high too!
Now giraffes are my favorite animal crackers.

Green Eggs and Ham
My new favorite food is ham. At this point I suppose my inclination to enjoy ham isn't so new any more, but it is still rather novel since I'm otherwise a pretty strict vegetarian (hot dogs are my only other exception).
It all started with a trip to the Dr's office. Dad was reading me some of the random books in the office while we waited for the doctor to come in. One of them was Green Eggs and Ham and both dad and I enjoyed the book so the next time we went to the book store (one of my favorite places to visit) dad bought a copy for at home.
Then I started to ask about both ham and eggs. I wanted to have them for breakfast but we didn't have any at the house. It took a while, but finally dad picked up some sliced ham off the bone at the deli and mom made me some green eggs. I still don't like eggs (green or otherwise) but I now eat ham a couple times a week, almost always at bed time, and every time dad reads me that story.

Summary of a Busy Week
This was a busy week, and it is only Thursday.
Monday night mom and dad took me car shopping again. They are planning on buying a minivan so we can still take grandma and grandpa out when my little sister comes. I just like sitting in the driver's seat and hitting all the buttons.
Tuesday was a special day. I went to an extra Little Gym class. Normally I have to wait until Saturday but this week I was able to go on Tuesday too!
Wednesday was special mommy-daughter day while dad went golfing. She took me to the library and we picked out three good books.
Today was Thursday and I helped out a lot. First I helped dad plant hyacinth bulbs in the garden and after dinner mom and I cleaned dad's car while dad mowed the lawn.
Tomorrow is Friday already and then it will be Little Gym day again! What a very busy week.

Successful Night of Sleep
It took me a while (I was very excited) and both mom and dad were asleep before me, but I did eventually fall asleep and spent the entire night in my new big bed. I had no bad dreams and I didn't fall out. It was a success!

Big Girl Bed
I'm getting a new bed today! I'm also getting a dresser, but I'm much more excited about having a big girl bed! Mom and dad and I went shopping for bedding and I picked out a soft blanket with castles, butterflies, and magic wands and today when I get home from school the bed will be in my room waiting for me.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm suppose to do with it then, but I'll figure out something creative to do with it.

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!
I made my mom very happy this morning. At school we planted seeds and decorated it with a photo of myself in a flower frame. My seeds grew into little plants and my mom promised to try not to kill them. My picture was my favorite silly face. The photo below is an older picture of me making my silly face... although you can admire my beautiful Easter eggs if you like.
The most difficult part of Mother's Day was keeping my present a surprise. I brought the gift home from school on Thursday. Dad helped me put in the laundry room where mom wouldn't see it. My favorite place to hide things, though, is my play house. I kept trying to move the plant to the play house and as I would do so I'd run by mom while loudly repeating "Mom! Don't look!"
Dad and I also got mom a card (which he helped me sign) and a book filled with cookie recipes. One of my favorite mother/daughter activities is cooking and one of my favorite foods is cookies. We've already picked out three varieties to try!
Right now dad is at the store buying us the ingredients we need for the cookies and food to grill out for dinner... which means I get to eat another of my favorite foods: hot dogs!

Maternity Leave Request
I'm looking for ideas about interesting things I can do while sitting, resting, recovering... nursing... praying that the newborn will go back to sleep for just 10 more minutes. With that in mind, I have a request of all of you:
*** Please share with me the things you've found inspiring, exciting, or caused you to broaden your perspective on the world. ***
These might include biographies (e.g. The Autobiography of Malcolm X), history books (Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond), science books (The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene), movies (Memento), and websites (TED.com) or other things I can partake in while recovering and enjoying my time with the baby. I have opened up the comment board so anyone can post their answers directly to this blog. Alternatively, you can email them to me. Finally, if you don't mind, I'd like to know who suggests what so please leave your name or other indication of who you are (although I understand any desire to remain anonymous as well).
Thanks to everyone in advance!

Ultrasound from March 14
For those radar reading experts and proud grandparents, this is the most recent ultrasound photo of the expected arrival (taken on March 14th).
She had her back up almost the entire time so we didn't get a good profile shot, but you should be able to see two feet (on the left) and some vague facial features (on the right).

Another Initial Post
It has been three long months since I last updated the web with my exciting adventures. It feels like half my life, but I guess it is only one-ninth of my life.
In those three months I've celebrated a birthday, dyed eggs for Easter, and decorated the house with roses for Ridvan. I've had a lot of fun and continue to impress my parents (it's pretty easy).
Now I'm back and I'll be posting new stories and updates as they occur.

Initial Post
Our family is about to undergo another big transition. The count-down has begun (71 days before Due Date) and the other three of us are in full preparation mode.
The transition from the previous family blog to this one is just one of those preparations. This blog is intended to be an informal source of updates about our family and will be shared by all individuals. It may not have quite as many photos, but hopefully it will remain an entertaining way for those further away to remain virtually connected to our household and all the happy events therein.
Cheers to all.
