Maternity Leave Request

I'm looking for ideas about interesting things I can do while sitting, resting, recovering... nursing... praying that the newborn will go back to sleep for just 10 more minutes. With that in mind, I have a request of all of you:

*** Please share with me the things you've found inspiring, exciting, or caused you to broaden your perspective on the world. ***

These might include biographies (e.g. The Autobiography of Malcolm X), history books (Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond), science books (The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene), movies (Memento), and websites (TED.com) or other things I can partake in while recovering and enjoying my time with the baby. I have opened up the comment board so anyone can post their answers directly to this blog. Alternatively, you can email them to me. Finally, if you don't mind, I'd like to know who suggests what so please leave your name or other indication of who you are (although I understand any desire to remain anonymous as well).

Thanks to everyone in advance!

The Laurie R King books, with Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes. Just read the opening chapter in Beekeepers Apprentice and you will understand.

I am so excited to see the new site. I am sorry it took me a while to come visit it (but now it's bookmarked). I just wanted to suggest a crazy book that I hope to read, and perhaps you'll be interested in it (if you are, let me know. I'll mail it to you when I am done.) The book is " The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible" by A. J. Jacobs Lots of love,
