Little Gym Graduation

Mom finally created and uploaded her video of me graduating from my spring semester at The Little Gym. Yesterday was my first class in the Summer Semester. It was fun, although smaller.

Enjoy.

Little Gym Graduation

Last Saturday was graduation day at the Little Gym. I really like Little Gym. It is a lot of fun playing on all of the equipment and running around.

Graduation was particularly exciting. I think mom is working on putting together a movie of graduation day, but she is grappling with the learning curve for the new iMovie application... and the fact that our older camera that they use for short video segments saves files in an old format.

Dad's taken me the last few weeks and I've had a ball. Fortunately, dad has offered to continue taking me for at least a little while since mom doesn't seem to be interested in gymnastics right now.

Gravida Status

Just had another doctor's visit. She said that I was very large and then proceeded to say that it wasn't because the baby was big. I guess I'm just very good at growing a big belly. Then she talked briefly about how I am shaped strangely (a particularly disturbing thing to hear from an ob). I guess most fetuses don't spend their time sticking their butt out the mother's belly button.

But most importantly, she said that all was progressing well.

Father's Day

I had a good Father's Day this weekend. I woke mom up early and we finished painting the birdhouse I picked out for him. Then we wrote in his cards and I decorated the envelopes. Finally I helped mom make pancakes.

After letting dad sleep in, he opened all his gifts (a new puzzle to do with me, the poem and footprint I made at school, and the previously mentioned birdhouse) and we all ate breakfast.

Later that day, we went to my aunt's house where we swam in the pool and then went out for gelato. It was a lovely day.

Ice Cream in the Heat

The summer heat hasn't slowed me down any. I'm still very interested in playing outside for as long as mom and dad will let me. Even yesterday I wanted to stay outside and it hit 93 deg (beating the old record of 92 deg set in 1950).

On Sunday evening mom, grandma, and I went out for ice cream. I've always had ice cream in a dish in the past, but this time I wanted a big dipped waffle cone with sprinkles. Mom downsized me to a regular kiddie size, but she still let me indulge in my first ice cream cone experience!

It was very good. About half way through I informed those present that I liked the cone the best, but by the end it was the ice cream I was licking up and enjoying the most.

Unfortunately, we ate it in 90 degree heat. I'm use to taking my time and enjoying my food but mom kept tactfully pressing me to "lick here" and "bite here" and "don't crush the cone." I didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about. After all, as we left, one of the other customers declared our ice cream outing to be a hit. "Any time the mom and child both leave with chocolate stains all down their shirts it must have been a success."

Watery Sunday

I just had a very water-themed day. Dad suggested that we go canoing so first thing this morning we ate breakfast, got dressed, and headed out to the bay.

I was very excited. I've seen lots of boats on the road (which mom and I have decided is pretty funny since boats belong on the water). I saw a couple of boats on the canal when we were out for ice cream. But I haven't been in a boat before.

We saw a big blue heron who let us come quite close and even quacked a "hi" to us. We saw two swans with a bunch of little cygnets. They were quite protective of their newborns and not very interested in the bread we offered to them. Two solitary swans and a couple of geese were much more interested in our offering of bread. The two geese actually followed us after we fed them a few slices! Then the trip ended with us spying one last swan sitting on her nest.

I'm still most fascinated by the bugs I see, though, and I found a couple of new bugs in the canoe as we paddled along.

After finishing with the canoe, aunt m called and suggested we head to her house for lunch and a swim in the pool so off we went. Dad had me splashing and kicking for a long time. I even dunked my head under to touch the bottom of the pool.

Wednesday

Yesterday was "Mother/Daughter Day." It happens every Wednesday. Dad is out golfing and I spend the evening doing something a little special with mommy.

Yesterday we went to the park where we happened to run into two other girls about my age. We all braved the slides, tried out the swings, and practiced rolling down the hill together. It was a good time.

But I'm still very curious about this whole "golf" thing. Hopefully dad takes me golfing someday soon.
